DJ Akademiks dismisses Cardi B–Maduka Okoye dating rumours over footballer's reported yearly earnings

Prominent Jamaican-American podcaster DJ Akademiks has weighed in on the dating rumours linking Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B and Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, saying he does not believe the pair are romantically involved.

Speaking during a livestream, Akademiks argued that Cardi B has become accustomed to dating wealthy men and claimed that someone reportedly earning around $900,000 a year would not fit her dating standards.

"Offset done tricked on her and spoiled her too much. Even Stefon Diggs stepped it up. You can't come after that making a million a year," he said.

Akademiks added that he believes the pair were simply having a friendly conversation and dismissed speculation that there is anything romantic between them.

The rumours began after Cardi B and Okoye were spotted together at the Jean Paul Gaultier Fall/Winter 2026 Haute Couture show during Paris Fashion Week, where the Nigerian goalkeeper was seen helping the rapper to her seat.

Their appearance together sparked widespread speculation online, although neither Cardi B nor Maduka Okoye has addressed the rumours.
